The African American Networking Group (AANG) is an informal group that was formed in 1998 to facilitate networking among African American members and friends of the Vegetarian Society of the District of Columbia.  AANG activities include Kwanzaa celebrations, lectures on health and race, networking receptions, relationship discussions and game nights.

Founded in 1997, the Black Vegetarian Society of Georgia (BVSGA) is a volunteer, nonprofit, membership organization that promotes a plant-based diet through education and support programs to address the disproportionate levels of chronic and degenerative diseases that affect African Americans. BVSGA meets monthly for vegetarian restaurant outings, informative lectures, cooking classes and theme potlucks. The group hosts the largest annual vegetarian food fair in Atlanta for the Great American Meatout in March and an annual Vegetarian Harvest Potluck in November. BVSGA also hosts a web site, publishes a newsletter, and provides members with discounts at 60 area locations.

Founded in 2002, the Black Vegetarian Society of New York (BVSNY) is a volunteer, nonprofit, membership organization that promotes vegetarianism and other holistic lifestyles geared toward good health and natural living to counter the high incidence of diet-related chronic diseases experienced by African Americans. BVSNY activities include nutrition education programs, food preparation classes, health fairs and advocacy for improved community access to affordable, wholesome foods.

Its members embrace vegetarianism for reasons of health, spirituality, environment and nonviolence. BVSTX hosts a website, publishes a bi-monthly newsletter and holds monthly programs, including Vegetarianism 101 and Vegetarian Cooking classes, a health speakers bureau and weekend getaways.
